What a cool selection of books. The one about humor and Marines in WWII got a chuckle out of me. I had no idea there were so many books related to the military out there, I'm ashamed to say. And I have a brother in the Navy, too! I'm considering sending him for Christmas another title, "Words for Warriors," (even though it's by an Army guy, Col. Ralph Puckett), because I think he'll like the words and wisdom as written by a professional solider. My brother is forever talking about screwups by those higher up the chain of command, and screwups are something this colonel cannot abide. He values competence, and leadership, and getting the job done, safely and well. The book is easy to read, too, because it's a collection of nearly a hundred essays, short pieces, anecdotes, combat stories (my husband loved those -- we already have this book) and even humor.
